 The Alicia Boparai Foundation

"A beautiful person inside and out"

The Great North Run 2013

Every year thousands of people make their first attempt at the Great North Run. Manisha Boparai and Sunny Sangha were two of those people this year. They both ran the Great North Run in memory of Alicia. It was an emotional day and a fabulous achievement by them both. Well done Manisha and Sunny. Alicia would have very been proud of you both. They have also inspired other members of Alicias family to attempt the run in 2014. Between them they raised a significant amount of money for Cancer Research and Make a Wish Foundation.

Raise the Roof

On Saturday 1st June, over one hundred friends and family members gathered together to 'Raise the Roof' at Nancy's Bordello. The fundraising event was organised by Alicia's best friends in aid of Teenage Cancer Trust, the fantastic charity that provided simplicities such as a wig and a private hospital room, which made the most difficult time in the lives of Alicia and those who were close to her that tiny bit easier. The event kicked off with music from The Beth Macari Band followed by an auction and raffle including more than 40 prizes, from cinema tickets to professional teeth whitening! Delectable homemade treats

graced the lips of guests before they took to the dancefloor to end the unforgettable evening, which raised over £3,500. Raising dough! On Saturday 13th July, Alicia's friends invaded the Gateshead Rugby Club Summer Fair with 400 Krispy Kreme doughnuts to raise even more money for Teenage Cancer Trust. Led by Sam, the girls set up their stall, stuck on their Krispy Kreme hats and began selling the glazed goodies to the sugar lovin' crowd. Doughnut sales and some kind donations helped us to raise a further £300 for TCT.

CHICAGO SKYDIVE 14th October 2013 Balinder, Jas, Manisha and Sunny decided to undertake a sky dive challenge to raise money for Alicias' charity. What better way to be scared witless than jumping out of a plane. Imagine standing at the edge of an open doorway at 13500 feet. The noise of the engines and the wind ringing in your ears with only the outlines of distant fields below. Now imagine leaning out of the doorway and letting go - falling forward into the clouds, skydiving down through the air as they start freefalling at over 120mph. This fear is temporary compared to the challenge faced by those living with life threatening or terminal illness everyday. £1872.49 has been raised from donations from our kind hearted supporters.
